There are various untold stories of Captain Cool which also remained untold in The Untold Story. Though the movie projected a wide view of MS Dhoni’s life, touching on a substantial amount of themes. There are still many important factors of the man’s journey which are not at all touched upon in the film. I understand that it is not possible to sum up decades of time within 3 hours, but what could have been the possible reason behind keeping MSD’s own brother’s character nowhere to be seen in the movie? As if he does not exist!
Here is a brief account on some of the main characters of MSD’s successful life and where they are today.

Jayanti Gupta

Being middle class people, Dhoni’s father was not at all in favour of him devoting his time for cricket in his childhood. He thought they could not afford to let the young boy devote his time in cricket, as there was no scope for a small town boy like him in the industry. It was Dhoni’s mother and his sister who supported him throughout and did all they could to make the young man follow his passion. Jayanti is MSD’s elder sister who always supported him in all walks of his life. She is now a school teacher by profession. She still keeps her full support for her brother.

Santosh Lal

Santosh Lal was Dhoni’s close friend and they used to play cricket together in early days. Santosh was the man who taught Dhoni his signature, Helicopter shot (Thappad shot, as he called it then). MSD and Santosh used to play together and they both also served in the Railways. Santosh later went on to play Ranji for the state of Jharkhand. Dhoni’s friendship with Santosh never weakened even after Dhoni became a star. Unfortunately, the friend suffered from pancreatitis and lost his life in July of 2013.

Keshav Ranjan Banerjee

Keshav Ranjan Banerjee was the first to prompt Dhoni for playing cricket in school, as also depicted in the biopic. Keshav Ranjan Banerjee was a sports teacher in DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi, where Dhoni studied. The school is now known as Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, or JVM Shyamali; and Mr. Banerjee is still in the school as a sports teacher. He is a simple man and all that he expects as his gurudakshina from Dhoni is that he makes India win the next World Cup.

Narendra Singh Dhoni

Wait! What? NARENDRA Singh Dhoni? Who is this man? There was no such man in the biopic of MSD! But Narendra Singh Dhoni is one among many untold stories of ‘The Untold Story’. Narendra Singh Dhoni is MS Dhoni’s elder brother. He is a politician who was earlier with BJP before joining Samajwadi Party in 2013. He is married and has two children. He does not live with MSD’s family. Though there is no news of any bitter relation between the two brothers, yet his complete absence from the biopic has made everyone scratch their head about it.

His Alma Mater

Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali will always keep shining with the shining name of its shining alumnus, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In 2016, as the institution is celebrating its 50 years of establishment, the biopic on one of its best alumnus came out. This gave the students and the staffs immense pleasure and no one missed chance to watch the movie as early as was possible. The fact that Captain Cool is from our school fills every Shyamalian with pride.
Ever since the news came that a biopic on MSD is being made, an excitement grew in the school. The topic became a trend within the school campus to facebook pages related to it, and also spread across the town. Weeks before the release, advance bookings started. And finally when the movie released on 30th of September, theatres were flooding with students.
