Renowned Bollywood actor Om Puri passed away at his residence following a massive heart attack in Mumbai Friday morning. He was 66.

Apart from his movies in India, the actor was known for his roles in British, and Hollywood, Independent films and art films. He had won the National Award for Best Actor in 1982 and 1984

An alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India as well as National School of Drama, Puri was on the forefront of what was called art films movement in the 70s. He has worked in acclaimed films such as Bhavni Bhavai (1980), Sadgati (1981), Ardh Satya (1982), Mirch Masala (1986) and Dharavi (1992).
