Sri Lanka was rocked by a series of bombings that killed more than 300 people and injured over 500 people, at churches and big hotels. Most of the victims are believed to be Sri Lankans, but at least 31 foreigners are among the dead too.

Attack Time Line:
The first reports came in at about 8:45 am local time on Sunday morning. Six simultaneous explosions at luxury hotels and churches holding Easter mass. Three were at churches – in Colombo’s Kochchikade district, Negombo north of the capital, and Batticaloa in the east. The other three blasts rocked the Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand hotels in Colombo.
Two further explosions were reported later: seventh in Dehiwala in southern Colombo, And the eighth explosion happened near the Colombo district of Dematagoda during a police raid, killing three officers.
Hundreds of Sri Lankan families are in mourning. The confirmed international casualties are from the UK, Denmark, Portugal, India, Turkey, Australia, the Netherlands, Japan, the US and China. Among the dead are three children of Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, owner of the Bestseller clothing chain and the largest stakeholder in clothing giant Asos.

The alleged bombers:
National Thowheed Jamath with some international help being suspected behind the little known Islamic group. The group has no history of large-scale attacks but came to prominence last year when it was blamed for damaging Buddhist statues.

Sri Lanka’s history and religion:
Buddhism is Sri Lanka’s biggest religious group,  about 70% of the population. Christians form up to 7% of the 21 million population. Sunday’s attacks were the worst ever against Sri Lanka’s small Christian minority. Hindus and Muslims make up around 12% and 10% of the population respectively. The attacks are Sri Lanka’s deadliest act of violence since the end of the country’s 26-year civil war in 2009. The war is thought to have killed between 70,000 and 80,000 people and ended with the defeat of the Tamil Tigers, who had fought for independence for the Tamil minority.

This attack sends a message to everyone around the world that how we are not safe in probably the quietest places in the world. Though I believe terror has no religion, this brings up the issue of Islamic terror to the forefront.

The teardrop-shaped country of Sri Lanka, for now, symbolizes the pain and sorrow of a bloody Easter Sunday. One day, though, it will symbolize the happiness of an island that has rebuilt and come out that much stronger.

Uri Attack: Enough Condemnation Seen- It’s High Time Now

The people of Kashmir, at Uri, witnessed a sad demise on the morning of 18th September, when four heavily armed terrorists attacked the India Army base near the LoC at the town of Uri. Dropping down right after the attack were Home minister Rajnath Singh and Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar to look over the situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and members of his cabinet vehemently condemned the attack.

The government was shocked by this mayhem because last week at the UNHRC summit at Geneva India clearly mentioned about Pakistan’s clear Human Rights Violation and “Cross Border Infiltration” which wouldn’t be tolerated at any level or stature. Given this it was clear that any further attack or Violation by Pakistan will be  responded head-on and won’t end at Verbal negotiation.

It’s been two days since the attack and the only way India responded to the attack is the comment by Manohar Parrikar stating that lives of the 17 jawans will ‘not go in vain’ and by the DGMO Lt. Ranbir Singh saying that “India will respond at the time, place of our choice.” This calls for clear acid test for the proposition government by observing the current situation.

Let’s look back into the past 3 years back on March, 2013. “One year before the Prime Minister’s election” on 3rd March in Srinagar,J&K where 5 CRPF personnel were brutally killed and three months after that on June 2013 at the Indian Army convoy at Srinagar where eight Jawans were killed while their travelling from Leh.

This marked a huge Loophole in the then Proposition Government(UPA led by Congress) where BJP accused the Congress party leaders of handling the crisis in a way which was intolerable and not acceptable. This marked a positive attitude on the side of BJP where it admonished Congress of it duties.

And so the nation(Government) stands today looking and observing the despicable acts which ruins the credentials and integrity of our people. This is such a lame situation where it comes down to asking the government that ‘Are they really concerned about the injustice done to our soldiers Or  is it just about arguing over the issue whether who does justice to our own people?’

And what does ‘bringing justice’ actually means? Or everyone just wants to Outfox the other in the least legitimate way. Is it really so difficult to judge and react to such underlying actions in a justifiable way? Will it always be about political destabilization over justice for real heroes?

INDIA RAISES BALOCH ISSUE FIRST TIME AT UN, SLAMS PAKISTAN

India accused Pakistan of the widespread mayhem at the 33rd Session of the UNHRC Meeting held in Geneva. India was apar from the point where they could solve this issue with mutual consent.

Due to Pakistan’s territorial disputes, the people of Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir(POK) have been suffering a lot. They have been a stagnant victim of active terrorism which revolves around them with no assurance.

India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative at UN, Ajit Kumar said that Pakistan’s non-cooperative track record is well known and many countries have repeatedly called upon Pakistan to end cross- border infiltration; dismantle the terrorism infrastructure; and stop acting as an epicentre of terrorism.

Cross-Border Infiltration by Pakistan is a humongous issue which India is fretting on since decades. This conundrum was asserted by India the most at the meeting. Violation of Human Rights won’t be tolerated again and again, India has stated this very clearly in the past. India’s credibility in maintaining healthy relationships with its neighbouring countries has been positive and an important criteria or them.

Casualties reflected due to terrorism is a huge restraint they have displayed and it affects their foreign relations in a direct way. J&K has been suffering for decades because of this war which if Pakistan doesn’t look upto as a crucial fault on their part, there is no end to this and will end up in sabotaging the life of people of J&K and PoK.

“First step in solving any problem is recognizing that there is one.” And it needs to be constantly observed that it doesn;t grow up on such scale that it is affecting the lives of the masses in any sort or manner.

For it has always been ‘Our Kashmir’

Have you seen a lotus bloom to life?
Have you seen a star twinkle and hide?
Have you heard the call of gunshots triggered amidst the few?
Have you felt the love someone has for you?

Kashmir– the heaven on earth, the Pole star in the bed of numerous balls of fire has been tarnished and ruined. Who would have thought that the crown of India would fall from such a great height, would fall with such a thud that its echo would re-breathe through the walls of hell? Who would have pictured the youth of India, the light bearers of tomorrow to be such active citizens taking a lead and spreading militancy with a fire raging in their souls?

The valley of beauty has lost its charm. Have you ever thought why? There is lack of development, lack of industries, lack of employment. From where do we expect the people to fill their tummies? How are they supposed to sleep with faith that the next morning would not bring with itself their doom?

Education is the key factor that comes to light here. Any skill requires the art to master it. If the youth isn’t educated, how can it master the art to earn and win a loaf of bread to feed their families? There are no teachers willing to inculcate the values the Indian Constitution stands for. There is freedom of speech and expression. True. How many people are aware of this? And among the small number that are, how many do you think have got the privilege of its exercise? It is a saddening picture but the more tear-striking part is that no authority or non governmental organisations are seriously addressing this issue.

We read in newspapers or see in televisions the young boys turning to insurgency, taking arms and weapons in hands at the time of doing wonders through the pen and its power. Do we ever realise that this can also be attributed to the chaos and worsening conditions of the agricultural industry that produces edibles like apples? The Pashmina that Kashmir is famous for has lost its grandeur due to the black market. How can we expect the people to be oblivious to their condition? Are they not humans who have to sleep with a hungry stomach and a watering mouth?

At the time of Partition, as most of us are aware, the Maharaja of Kashmir never accepted the inclusion within Pakistan. It is a different case altogether that even joining hands with the Indian government was due to Pakistan. Do you see the roots holding strong to the grounds? Do you? Pakistan is a very core factor that results in disturbances in Kashmir. From persuading people to join the forces to supplying them with weapons and training them in all circumstances, Pakistan has left no stone unturned. But India has to retaliate. India cannot sit back and view the ruination of its pride on tv sets, in the comfort of their living rooms. Why? It is because this is NOT the India of your dreams and nor the India of mine.

Times have gone far beyond the horizon where people would survive the wrath of the destroyers. It is the hour of enlightenment. It is the hour of survival. So, are you ready to wage a war against the forces that are breaking the soul of Kashmir into pieces? Are you ready to fight for the preservation of the homeland on whose soil you walk miles and reach the stars?

Are you ready to scale heights, melt borders and break the shackles that hold us down in the path of progress?

Indian or Pakistani, This is Not How We Should React!

What is the mentality of people about honour killing? The killing of Pakistani online sensation Qandeel Baloch by her own brother is a recent example which got media attention. Here are few Tweets made about her death that will clarify why honour killing still exists.

Recently we were lucky to see an awesome film called “SAIRAT” made by National Award winning director Nagraj Manjule. The film was super but the situation depicted in the story is very critical and persistent. The radical disease known as honour killing is widespread in our country. What is honour? And who gave us the right of being honoured in killing a human being who exercises his/her freedom of expression?

We can’t blame Pakistan. But something very bad is being taken forward and appreciated in social media. These tweets will make you rethink about the mindset of people irrespective of being in India or Pakistan.

Way do these tweets doesn’t get reported !

SHOCKING: Qandeel Baloch shot dead by her brother!

Pakistani online celebrity, Qandeel Baloch has been killed allegedly by her brother in a suspected case of honour killing.

According to Pakistani media, Ms. Baloch was shot dead by her own 30-year-old brother three days back in Multan, her hometown where she went to celebrate EID with her family. She was known for her bold videos and statements on Facebook.

Three weeks ago, Ms. Baloch wrote to Pakistan’s Interior Minister and the Senior Superintendent of Police in Islamabad asking them to provide security to her as her brother was allegedly threatening her via calls on her cell phone for uploading her pictures and videos on the Internet.

Last week itself her music video ‘Ban’ with Pakistani pop singer Aryan khan was released and gone viral. Which also sparked a debate in the country. “baby, please don’t do it again” was one of the phrases used in the song. And after this horrific incident, it seems like she’ll really be never able to do this again.

Honour killing has become very common in the sub-continent. What can be more horrific and heinous than a brother killing his own sister in the name of culture, society, and honuor? No one has any right to interfere in any sane person’s legit decision about their body, their sexuality, their life and choice of profession. If one’s honour is at the stake it’s of individual, not their whole family.

Killing in the name of honour is the worse example of ego. And, only a moral-less person can indulge himself or herself in ‘Moral policing’.
